Pittsburgh Penguins Score in Overtime, Ending the Washington Capitals’ Run

PITTSBURGH — Nick Bonino put a bounce back past Braden Holtby 6 minutes 32 seconds into extra time, giving the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night and wrapping up the groups' fervently Eastern Conference elimination round arrangement in six diversions.

The Capitals had energized from a three-objective shortage amid the last 22 minutes of control, yet Bonino's second objective of the playoffs sent the Penguins toward the Eastern Conference finals against Tampa Bay.

Holtby made the underlying stop on Carl Hagelin, yet Bonino, stayed outdoors right outside the wrinkle, tapped in the champ.

Washington forward Jay Beagle made an exceptional recovery from his paunch against Patric Hornqvist right on time in extra minutes, yet there was no halting Bonino's tap-in.

Phil Kessel scored twice, and Hagelin included an objective for Pittsburgh.

The new kid on the block Matt Murray made 36 spares as the Penguins proceeded with their playoff dominance over the Capitals.

T. J. Oshie, Justin Williams and John Carlson scored amid Washington's rally, however it was insufficient.

Nine times the long-lasting opponents have met in the playoffs. Eight times the post-arrangement handshake line has finished with Pittsburgh celebrating while Washington walks toward the off-season.

The Capitals, who won the Presidents' Trophy for having the N.H.L's. best standard season record, maintained a strategic distance from end with a strong 3-1 win in Game 5, yet the Penguins — who wasted 3-1 arrangement leads in the 2011 and 2014 playoffs — lectured persistence and indicated their striking strength under Coach Mike Sullivan, who assumed control in mid-December.

Pittsburgh finished the standard season as the most sweltering group in the class and has now won two playoff rounds by depending on the profundity that General Manager Jim Rutherford has developed behind the stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

Everything except two of Pittsburgh's 16 objectives amid the arrangement were scored by players who were not on the program when Rutherford supplanted Ray Shero two summers back, including Kessel, procured from Toronto last July, alongside Hagelin and Bonino, Pittsburgh's best line in the arrangement. source : www.nytimes.com
